This is age of science. Everyday we use many things which our ancestors never had nor dreamed of having. Today, we take for granted such as riding in a jeep, train or truck: listening to a radio or a hi-fi: talking over the telescope; cooking over an electric stove; using an electric iron; seeing a movie; watching television: and reading a printed book. We make use of frozen foods, wear plastic rain coats and wash-and-wear clothes, use electric washing machines, and enjoy many other modern conveniences.
Have you ever asked yourself what made these things possible? Or, who made these things possible? Of course these things which we now enjoy are the products of man's inventive genius. They were brought about after years of constant study, research, and work in laboratories. They came as a result of man's venture into the world of nature. Endowed with curiosity and the power to think and reason. Man discovered God's law of nature. He used this knowledge to advantage are produced the wonderful benefits we now enjoy.
In this unit, you will learn the meaning of science and its most important branches. You will see how scientist think and work. How they look for problems, solve them. and use their new knowledge to advantage. The benefits that science has given us are God's gifts and knowledge of science should make us appreciate these gifts as well as use them properly for the common good.
